M & R series will be a closed center design, with the option for Pressure Flow Compensation (or PFC). This is a preferred type of hydraulic system if you are using the machine for anything besides stroking a cylinder one way and back and then stopping. Any type of motor or other usage will cause a open center type gear pump to get hot at higher RPM's.
