| Well, the fact is this corn crop looks like it will be a disaster today. What should we do from a marketing perspective?
I'm buying 6 Dec corn tonight for the front end of spreads.
Selling 2 March
Selling 2 May
Selling 2 July
It's going to lock in the spread. They've gotten considerably tighter but should get tighter as bad as things look. Take the carry now and lift it later if it looks like the crop is planted and will be ok. The market doesn't owe you a carry- capitalize on what's available.
As of tonight, I hope by June 10 I can plant corn. It's ugly out here in Ohio. I probably will spend less time sober than I should over the next couple weeks. | |
