Thats an old tablet from 2011? I think those only had 1/2 a gig of RAM which could be the problem. In general Apple products are technologically inferior to their competitors but they provide a similar experience by controlling the entire OS and environment.
For example Samsung S phone series got 2 GB of Ram in 2013 while the iPhone didn't get to 2 GB of RAM until sometime in 2015.
