| Using a thumb drive/usb drive to move photos or video from one machine to another isn't desirable. If you have a home network do it over that (wired would be preferred, for speed). If you don't have a home network use an ethernet crossover cable or an ad-hoc wifi connection if they've both got wireless adapters.
As to moving your bookmarks that depends on what browser you're using. I believe if you have a chrome or firefox profile set up all you need to do is log in on the new machine. iCloud should move bookmarks, too, if you have that set up. If that isn't the case you'll need to browse to whatever folder that information is in and transfer it manually.
