I wonder what the thinking is behind the estimate of 4-7 years to rebuild the herd. Possibly an assumption that the fever will hang around that long? Because it doesn't take all that long to turn a piglet into a bred Gilt.

Some of the death loss numbers coming out of there are nearly unbelievable. Like the 50% feed demand reduction in this article, or I also read 30-40% death loss---which I believe was also an FC Stone figure. Reminds me of the bird flu when that hit the turkey growers in our area.
