Subject: Soybean weathering

Cen Ks
We had a very late, wet bean harvest last fall. Most of the beans were out in field ready to cut for 6 weeks, getting repeatedly soak by rains. Some areas sat in flood water for several days. As we ship beans out this spring, we are seeing test weights in low 50's. Is the weather last fall responsible for the low test weight? Or is variety the cause? What factors determine soybean test weight.. FYI: our fall weather is typically dry, maybe an occasional rain shower chases us out for a day or two. In 30 years of farming, last fall was one of the 2 worst I can remember. TIA for your response/ comments
