Subject: RE: Non-GMO Corn Experiment

Southern Illinois
Did it last year with 2 different Pioneer numbers and both conventional varieties beat the traited varieties by a few BPA. We had exceptional growing conditions last year so the test will be conducted again this year on a larger scale with more varieties along with a couple RUP only traited seed. I used Simazine with my pre instead of atrazine and came back with my own generic Halex mix w/ 1 qt of Atrazine (no glyphosate obviously). Only areas I had grass were on the first 12-18 rows on the perimeter of the field. Will be running a stronger rate on the perimeter's of my fields this year to see if I can hold back the grass better. I may consider down the road planting the perimeter of my fields with glyphosate tolerant varieties and spray the outer edges. Just don't want to drift or forget....
