Why not both mixed together? Might even throw in some peas or beans? We mix in all kinds of crap, left over seed, even bird seed from the store.
We do this on ground we're fallowing out after wheat that's going to be cotton next year. Weave never had problems with acid or nitrates as long as they have some choice of what to eat and you don't graze it to the dirt.
