If your a clay loam add Agrotain and float all your N on ahead of the planter, if sandy make a couple trips. Logic for pre-plant app is you have more time for rain, some will argue for need to incorporate but Dave Franzen at NDSU says you can lose more N if shallow incorporation. If you are using in furrow pop-up you have a little more time but keep in mind you need N to the roots by 2nd collar.
