Bearings with the load center between the bearings would more commonly have a bit of end play. the expansion characteristics can also come into play, a long shaft with a bearing at both ends can increase in length several thousanths of an inch as it warms up in some cases and can increase or decrease the bearing clearances depending on the configuration of the bearings. | |
