I don't feel that corn silage is a substitute for corn itself. Essentially, you're diluting the corn with roughage. If you would like to eliminate feeding hay, corn silage may be a substitute. But when it comes to fattening cattle, silage only has 1/2 to 2/3 the energy they get from straight shelled corn.
