???????Always thought an auction was the fairest way to establish value to anything ? How to my original ? How could a perishable product as what was described , have any value ?

Almost 50 years ago a corn crib burned down on the place I grew up on and I now own. My dad had just filled it to the max with ear corn. He parked the corn picker tractor in the alley at dark to keep the front wheels from freezing that night. Not long after parking it inside the shed the tractor started on fire and it ended up burning the whole crib down. What corn that was savaged had tremendous burn damage with nails and broken burnt boards mixed within it. A neighbor guy came by a brought wagon loads of it to his place and fed it to his cattle. Dad didn’t charge him a dime for it he was just happy to get rid of it. I don’t recall how the cattle did on it but my point is even tremendously damaged corn has some value to it.
