SE Washington | Jake, I would like to know how you come to the conclusion of a legal requirement of a log for the 75% of total miles since the guide specifically states that you can do so "without any allocation records". I'm certainly no tax expert but this seems to be the way the rules read. I understand your confusion as to how do you know percent of mileage use if you aren't tracking mileage. However this seems to be addressed by "if you used the vehicle during most of the normal business day directly in connection with the business of farming". This seems to be in good faith of time allocation. I'm sure it can and has been abused. You stated yourself you have seen no legal preceents on this matter. However if a guy has a pickup on a farm and typically uses it for farm use it seems to easily fall into this category. Am I off base with my interpretation? | |
