Faunsdale, AL | Sounds like the symptoms of a glycogen storage disease, probably hereditary.
These diseases are similar to the more well known "tieing up" or Monday morning disease where fit healthy (usually draft breed) horses experience muscle pain and damage when returning to work after even a short period of inactivity unless their feed is reduced dramatically during the time off work.
I think these diseases are usually managed by feeding low carbohydrate, higher fat feeds. I am not an expert, just saw some short presentations at a veterinary conference some years ago. | |
