Subject: Cover crops...silage corn and chopping....

ESW ND
Has anybody planted some sort of covers, whether it's just clover, a vetch or a grain in between the rows of your silage corn? I'm talking a 2-4 row head. Not a kemper rotary type. How much trouble did you have with the snouts "floating" and not snagging anything? Could a person put a rolled "shoe" on the front of the snouts to kind of float over it? We are tillage, but regardless, I'd like to think it could work, but I'd hate to try it and show myself that it would be a nightmare. The vinyer it would be, the worse I could see it being a problem, like the vetch. So I'm thinking it would be a light grain seeding.

I'm posting in both here and crop talk.
