Subject: RE: Shoulder replacement

Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa
65 year old good friend of mine, who basically wore his shoulders out farming and tending cow herd, had both shoulders replaced, one at a time, about 2 years ago. As of that time, I wasn't aware that shoulder joints could be "replaced". He had been in such pain for several years prior to that, it was cutting into his quality of life. Both surgeries went well, he was serious about doing the rehab correctly, he confirmed that shoulder replacement rehab was fair amount shorter than rotator cuff rehab and recovery. I have forgotten the details of how much range of motion he has gotten back, but it is alot, and the pain is gone. He is a whole new and different person-he is so satisfied. Get a good ortho guy to do it. After watching his experience, and hearing about others since, I would encourage others in that condition to do their own research, but I have seen how well it worked for him. Hope things go well for your wife, whatever you two decide to do. Bruce.
