McCanna, ND | I would figure out what you want to cut with what first. I have a thermal dynamics/Victor 52 plasma cutter. It cuts up to 1/2 well, will do bigger but doesn’t cut as nice and a torch might be just as fast provided you have the right tip size. I have used a 80-100 amp plasma in college and that thing would cut some thick stuff like butter, but the kerf was 2x wider then my 52.
Very seldom does the torch get used unless we are doing field repairs or heating something up. Plasmas aren’t the cheapest things to run with the price of consumables, the drier the air the better as well. Do not use Chinese consumables, they don’t have the QC needed and don’t work very well. | |
