Holland, Indiana (SW IN)
Hi Jay Never had a JD paddle scraper BUT had a CAT 613 C series self loading scraper --about the same
#1 put on your seat belt --almost like riding a horse ---takes a bit to get used to the ride--you will find every hump sitting in front of the front axle
#2 Don't work good when its wet --seems it should get better traction but it don't like any mud
#3 If you are going to pick up anything but loose dirt you need TEETH --they bolt on the cutting edge (4 teeth on a 613) and are almost a necessity for hard dirt
If you need a pic of teeth Email me I've got some left over from our 613 laying in a shed will send you a pic

Enjoy your adventure with your new piece --hope it works well for you sounds like you got a bargain
FWIW I'm glad we sold our paddle scraper I like AC and a comfortable ride in a newer tractor pulling a pull scraper LOL

Dan

Had to add a friend (who was a long time construction boss) came to visit just after we bought our 613 his words "I think you could move more dirt with two mad roosters in a dirty card board box than with that thing" LOL --- it worked better than that

Edit to add found a tooth setup thought I'd add a pic
