Subject: first try to delete temp files and history

Lubbock, Texas
first for a simple attempt try and delete the temp files and history and maybe your cookies as well

BUT

please be aware that deleting history will make it where the links that automatically show up in your URL area will be gone until you go back to those sites

so for example if you come to this forum directly from http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums that link will not be there in the pull down menu (note it will NOT clear your bookmarks) just the links in the actual area where you type in the addresses to sites

second if you clear your cookies it will require that you sign into ALL sites that you go to that require a password.....so when you come back to these forums OR ANY OTHER SITE WITH A PASSWORD you will need to sign back into them again

clearing your temp files will not cause you to need to sign into sites or cause the links in your URL (website area) of your browser to go away

clearing the temp files is where to start

at the top of your browsers go to tools->internet options->general tab in the middle of that box you will see a button that says "delete files" hit and check "delete all offline content" and hit ok.......if it gives you the hour glass for a LONG time this means that file was very full and this can be the issue

if you want to clear the cookies as well you will see that button to the immediate right of the button you just clicked to clear the temp files....click it as as well (remember this is bye bye to all passwords saved for sites like this forum and you will have to sign back into them)

down below you will see the clear history button as well

what the temp files are is when you visit a site like this one or yahoo or almost any others all the "common" parts of that site like the big red letters YAHOO or the "welcome to AGTALK" at the top of this forum and the menus ect. are downloaded onto your PC....the theory is that with these parts on your PC on your next visit to that site it will load faster because instead of downloading ALL of the site it will index through your temp files very quickly and only download what is "new" on the site

when this temp file gets too full or gets some corrupted files in it it can actually become slower to index through there or it will hang on the corrupted file or just hang in general....deleting those temp files will often make sited pop up faster if the file was very full....if the hourglass goes on la LONG time deleting them then it means that file was very very full....if the hour glass hangs up forever close the browser and go empty the temp files again until it goes all the way past the hour glass

if this does not work there are other things to try
