southern MN | Microsoft, which owns Skype now, has been asked this question and they have a rather stock reply to it of uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, that should get it going type of generic reply.
My now dead ipad, my wife’s iPad, and a friend of ours iPads all ran into sound problems where certain alerts and so forth were not coming through, all three of those iPads were about 5-6 years old and limited to iOS 10 or 11 as the latest they would support. I don’t know the issue there either, or if it is related.
