what registry settings is it telling you to change....I would be surprised that any decent program (like flash should be) would tell someone to edit the registry
are you restricted from editing the registry or just not willing to
you can as last resort uninstall the version of flash on the PC and go to the old versions site and install the latest version of flash 8....it sounds like maybe there is a conflict between the school lesson and the newer version of flash if you really do have a newer version than 8 (like 9 that it says you do)
