Ross County, Ohio | They do look a lot like our circle bins. I helped a neighbor tear down, move and rebuild a 7 ring 8400 bushel bin once. It really wasn't bad, but that is small. 4 of us got it done in 3 days. Granted that is going to be a different experience than rebuilding a 20,000 bushel bin for example. Number the rings for the rebuild. Honestly, I wouldn't add rings to an old bin. There's a lot of stress on a bin when it's full. A local grain bin dealer told me the life expectancy of a metal bin is roughly 40 years average, and that depends on use. 16% corn going in is easier on them than 19% corn. A dryer is real rough on them, especially if someone has dried a lot of crops in them, rust becomes an issue. If those are Circle brand, I'd guess their at least 25 years old. Really in good shape no rust, it may be worth your time. Though, if you need bigger just buy a new bin. | |
