Subject: wont work

Southern Alberta
I have tried the humidistat running the fan and it basically does not work very well. The way it was explained to me is that the temperature of the grain and humidity of the grain is a very important part of the whole process. For example is the air is 32 degrees and low humidity and the grain is 70 degrees and high humidity the grain is going to warm up the incoming dry air and lots of water will be absorbed from the grain and good drying will occur.

On the other hand if your grain is now 20 degrees and moderate humidity and your humidity control turns on the fan when the air is 50 degrees and low humidity it is actually going to cool the air off when it passes through the grain and add moisture back to the grain as is falls out of the incoming air (cold air holds less moisture than warm air).

So even a controller that uses a computer program to compare the emc of the incoming air is useless unless it is also hooked up to temperature cables in the grain to compare.
