WC MN & Valley of the Sun, AZ | Drove from Paris to Normandy and was a beautiful drive through the French farm country not much different than the Midwest. Stopped on the way at the WW2 museum in Caen.

Had lunch at a little restaurant in a small town near Omaha beach.
Then spent the afternoon walking around the bunkers, bomb craters and cemetery.
One day was all the time we had but could easily spend two days and still not see it all.
Edit - Near the Normandy coast, you're more likely to run into an American farmer than a local. Don't worry, we stand out. Ha!
