Mid Mo | Have a 450# calf with a split hoof and open wound on lower leg. Just got him a couple weeks ago and was fine then over the weekend was favoring front foot. Got him up and the hoof was split and bleeding with some hide gone just above.
It’s been muddy, frozen, muddy, frozen back and forth.
Gave LA 200, sulfa bolus, and a zinc sulfate liquid on the wound wrapped with a vet wrap. Got him in the barn with deep straw for now but still access to outside for feed and water. Seems to be walking better but still a lot of raw hide.
Anything else I should do and how long to heal? Or will it?
