Subject: RE: JD7000 planter transmission alternatives

I wanted 34K population one year. Standard were 32K and 36K. I figured that a driven sprocket with an intermediate number of teeth would work, found a weld a hub sprocket in the local farm store and a hex shaft hub in another shop in Ames, and had them welded together and planted 34K. In a year or two Shoup offered that different sprocket assembled. When I checked the field it did have the right number of plants per 15' 4" except that there was one odd extra seed.

Shoup's Spring 2013 shows 6 Transmission Sprockets for 7000 and 5 for 7200.

Size 50 sprockets work perfectly for the 2050 chain in late vintage 7000 planters.
