Farmington, Mo | May be some merit to the idea of urban livestock since a lot have chickens already and several big cities have community gardens. I believe this used to be the model for some in big cities even around the turn of the century...remember the Chicago fire was started by Mrs O’Leary’s milk cow kicking over the lantern.
Wouldn’t take much space to have a couple head of each species (cow, pig sheep/goat) in a small barn on a vacant lot. Wouldn’t want to legislate this into existence but removing the road blocks would be good.
Could be interesting to watch how people react to actually having livestock in their back yard or at least across the fence from their pool. May change a lot of attitudes real quick and the drivel they spout about knowing so much more than the people actually making a living at it. | |
