Hennepin, IL | Thought this thought of mine deserved a separate thread. It may be too political, but fits in well with his discussion.
What if we did away with ordinances prohibiting livestock in suburban/urban areas? Sounds like a cluster at first, but maybe instead of prohibiting any animal but a cat or dog, we put limits. That way people that want to tell us how to raise our animals can put their money and energy where their mouth is. They can have a pig or 2 in their back yard, bring it in the house at night with the dog or whatever they want to do. Then eventually eat it. Or as I'm guessing would actually happen, it becomes a pet for years. It would give some of these people who are so far removed from agriculture a glimpse of what it really takes.
Not saying I think this is the greatest idea ever (tbh probably not even the best I came up with today). It has some definite holes, but I'm interested in what others thoughts are.
