Subject: RE: Hoop barn lambing

I've used a hoop barn to lamb in for 11 years. They are basically the same as a non insulated pole building. My building is set up to handle about 50 ewes at a time. I keep the ewes inside 24/7 to generate heat. The jugs are in a corner that is framed off to stop drafts.

1.All lamb get a heat lamb if temp is below freezing
2. Litter bearing type sheep dropping small lambs do not handle cold well.
3.Lambing before feb 1st in iowa is pushing it.
4. If it's cold twins are plenty. Triplets are a pain
