Mid Michigan | Friend of mine has a T37 Pontiac Lemans with the 455. He aways ran it in those pure stock muscle car drags for different magazines like Cars Illustrated. Was on the front cover of a lot of mags over the years. Usually ran about a 13.20 at about 102 mph in the quarter. Was very strong. Another guy had a 1969 Gto with a 500 inch Pontiac that was probably the stongest steel body quarter mile car any of us had ever seen up to the track. Would regularly lift the front end 6 ft in the air and run 9.40-9.60 times at 140 plus mph. Would always get a crowd running to the starting line when he brought that up to the line. Car was outrageous. Those motors can make unreal power. I often wonder whatever happened to that car. | |
