Could very well be. I went through the Deere engine works a couple of years ago. The tour guide used to work there so he knew something ( a lot of the guides don't) but anyway he pointed out the various engines coming down the line such as the 9.0 liter, the 6.8 liter and the 8.1 liter. I mentioned that I didn't think the 8.1 was produced anymore due to emission issues. He informed me that the 8.1 is still alive and well. It is used in other countries in farm equipment and even in the U.S. in nonfarm equipment such as tugboats, logging equipment etc.
