Subject: RE: MX transmission driveshaft

Southeastern Tipton County, Indiana

jedeka - 1/30/2019 09:45 I have the engine out of my MX240 for an overhaul. I decided to put new u-joints on the driveshaft, while I’m waiting for the cam and cylinder head to get back. I crossed the u-joints to a Meritor number and saved a lot of money. I’m trying to see if anyone has modified the tinwork to make it easier to access the driveshaft. It’s a puzzle to get it apart when I was removing the engine.

Just some minor material removal along the front lower corners to allow the top shield to drop into place easier. Working at a dealership we're kind of hamstrung about modifications that might reduce the safety of the shield system when installed.
If yours is early enough to have the large holes in the sides the bottom shield must be installed so the operator can't get his hands up in the driveshaft while fetching something stored in the "chainbox".
