Mount Vernon, WA | If it's a 1989 model, then it would have the Lucas (Magneti Marelli) alternator on it. While that model does have an internal regulator, it also uses a battery temp sensor that is critical to operation. If the sensor is damaged or unplugged, it won't charge.
Look for this sensor on or near the battery tray - there will be two wires going to it. It should have approximately 200 or so ohms of resistance to it if checked with an ohmmeter. You can also bypass it with a resistor of similar value. | |
