DE | installing a 12 volt LED high beam indicator. Put one wire to ground and the other connected to my high beam wire that goes out to headlights. Indicator works like it should on high beam. Problem is on low beam it is still lit , just not as bright. I guess since the dual filament headlights share a common ground , there is some stray voltage coming back through the high beam filament and wire causing the LED to illuminate slightly. How do I go about correcting this problem??
just checked voltage on high beam wire with only low beams on, and I have 6 volts coming back . Do I need to install a diode in high beam wire to prevent back feeding? I know just enough about wiring to get myself into trouble, or make things more complicated than necessary
