Subject: RE: How long to keep receipts

Southern Oregon

It's a good idea to keep receipts around for reasons other than taxes.  I know of a few lawsuits where  30 to 40 year old receipts were important evidence.  In one instance it was a pasture receipt that proved exactly who had access to a parcel of land for a period in question 40 years before.  You never know when or why you might need some of those old receipts in the future.  And you might get lucky and never need them too.  Just don't regret getting rid of them and then needing them later!
