just a tish NE of central ND | My bets are that you will Probably end up splitting to fix it...1971 used pistons instead of manual pto control.......You could be leaking oil from the hydraulic acutated pistons on the pto clutch down into the clutch asembly/flywheel areas. Both synchro tranny clutch and pto clutch are in the flywheel on those tractors and the alte ones use a hydraulic acutated pto.
Take the cover off the bottom and run the pto and engine and look(dont reach in there though).. Watch for dripping oil with the PTO ON!! There are 2 little pistons that push the pto throwout bearing into place and the O rings on those pistons go bad in time.
