Cullom, Illinois | I clean my feedlot waterers twice a week. Pull the plug and slosh the water around till they run clean. Last week while cleaning, I felt a tingle when I put my hand in the water. But only if I had my other hand holding the metal fence which was wet. Not a shock but felt like putting your tongue on a 9 volt battery. Let go of the fence, no tingle. I can’t seem to find a bad connection and have not felt anything since. But that could be the thermostat has the heat off.
So I’m wondering if voltage can “leak” through the heating elements? They seem to be the only thing touching the stainless pan. The rest of the waterer is plastic.
Btw, I have not seen any cattle drink from the waterer since the tingle. They will stand right by it. They have access to a second waterer in the pen. It’s the same make and model. But I’m not getting a tingle in either waterer any more.
Can I just ground a voltage tester and place the other end in the water to check for voltage? | |
