don't like the idea of cooking dinner for them? They might really remember the dinner you cooked them.
Sonic, your point about taking some time to think about what he's really celebrating is a good one, but cut the kid some slack. Here we have a HS kid thinking about celebrating a milestone and here you're putting a guilt trip on him because he didn't fall head over heels in love with your suggestion.
Derek, you know your parents better than we do, so take all the suggestions here and and find what fits. I'm going to suggest, since I seem to recall that you have mentioned having livestock. Can you step up and handle all the livestock chores for a weekend so your parents can go out of town for a couple days?
