Subject: RE: Smartsteer—Smartrax md compatibility

Butterfield, MN
Sorry if you read this earlier, I got your post and another one mixed up and probably gave out some bad advice.

The best option is to use a setup like in this picture, if you can get your hands on these cables. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that you can still get a 115-4001-061 cable, but it's a pretty simple looking cable, and could probably be built. The 115-4001-049 is still available.

Another option, which is less than ideal, is to use all your current cabling and output GPS from port A on the back of your Cruizer II to SmartSteer. You would unplug the Port A plug from your Gen II console cable. Order a 115-0171-793 cable and plug that into Port A instead. Plug the Port C plug from this cable into your DGSP plug on the SmartSteer cable. The other piece that you will need is a 115-4001-095 cable, which will tee between your current Cruizer II console cable and chassis power cable. This has a DGPS In plug on it which will allow the GPS from your SmartSteer to come in from the DGPS Out plug on it's cable. You'll likely have to get a CAN tee, such as a 115-0171-326, and connect to a CAN plug on your current Cruizer II cabling. You will have to remove a terminator, plug in this cable, then move the terminator down to one of the open plugs at the other end of the tee cable. The other open plug on the tee cable will plug into the open CAN plug on your SmartSteer cabling. It's going to be a little messy, but it will work.
