My grandson got a Savage Axis rifle in .308 Winchester around Christmas time.  Had some trouble with the scope that came on it as it flew off the first time he shot it.  So, after looking at it, determined it had poorly made scope bases on it.  His dad bought some new bases and the grandson and I remounted it and bore sighted it.  He wanted to try sighting it in (he's just turned 12 and has shot some but at least is really interested in it).  So we shot a few rounds at 50 yds and he was doing pretty well.  Then, since it was getting dark, he wanted to move the target farther away so we moved it out to 100 yds across a ditch in our pasture.  He took another shot and said, "I think I hit the Bullseye"  I couldn't see it so we drove the Ranger over to take a look.  I told him "I think you'd better quit"!!  I was impressed and he was thrilled. I then spent some time telling him not to expect that next time!  Pretty proud grandpa though!!!!  Glad he didn't tell me to match it!
