As others have said the current soybean market is turning to be more about the size of projected carryover than the tariff situation. I think traders believe the trade situation gets resolved soon otherwise you could easily take another buck off of beans. Back in September when the whole tariff thing started to be really talked about the drop in the soybean market was almost solely based off tariff talks. Throw a big crop into the mix and now you have that holding prices back much more than the tariffs that many think will be lifted. If the tariffs end up not being lifted it will obviously be a very bad thing but right now it is about that 1 billion bushel carryover. China can’t buy enough quick enough to fix that.


I agree Steve, I've shared this chart from Pro Farmer several times thru the fall season. This one is from yesterdays newsletter. While you can see the upturn in export sales from the last several weeks, it certainly looks like it will be quite the feat to reach the USDA projected exports for the season (Green bar, upper right hand) It's looking very likely to me that carry out rises well above a billion bushels.
