Idk what to do here or what’s going on... have a good cow just noticed a huge loss of weight in the past two days. Seems rather lathargic... not really interested in grain. You can hear her stomach gurgling like crazy. For feed they get free choice orchardgrass baleage and I’ve been giving them roughly 5lbs of French fries (that I get for free) mixed with a little bit of grain for the past month or so. Normally she’s be the first one in line for the potatoes but like I said she seems very lathargic and her rear is covered in diarrhea.
I don't KNOW but if you get past a certain percentage of fats or oils in a ration the rumen gets coated and then everything whistles through.
From your description she may have got too much 'good stuff' and is now paying for it.
She needs to get her rumen going again and also something to plug her up a bit.
I'm guessing that some medium quality grass hay (at best - - - NOT real good stuff) and hopefully she'll start eating.
If she doesn't eat - - - well you know the end of that story I think.
Good luck |
