We just bought a different tube with a king pin on it for our trailer. I think we have to have it all the way up so the trailer is level. Also we have to slide the fifth wheel plate all the way back for clearance when turning.
It works good, only takes about five minutes to switch the tube and a few minutes to slide the fifth wheel back.
