Subject: RE: Air too heavy?

Fontanelle, IA
How is your shade situation? are the cows' only shade the trees growing along this creek? Do the cows spend the majority of their time next to the crick / in the crick during summer? Have you had any respiratory issues in the calves from these cows in this pasture?

I'm going to go against the grain.

My only shade in 1 pasture is along the crick banks. Crick runs west to east. plenty of black flies and stagnant water. Yes, fescue too in the pasture. I think that poor air flow is a major problem in crick bottom pastures. Air is heavy and cows can't pant enough to stay cool under the shade fighting the flies because of poor air flow and heavy air. If crick ran north to south, then would southerly winds "mix" air /move it better? I don't know.

I've been accused of being full of crap too... but my eyes aren't brown..... yet......
