| Good for you to keep your tooth. Having your own natural teeth is a big quality of life benefit. Unless your tooth is cracked, you should be able to maintain the tooth.
Root canal treatment done by a competent provider should not be a bad experience......especially if you see and endodontist. The endodontist will cost more, but you'll probably have a faster treatment and they have resources that primary DDS does not have. For example, my local endo office has 3D imaging to improve diagnosis and treatment outcomes.
An implant is a good replacement for a missing tooth. But, it is not the same as a natural tooth. There are no guarantees with implants, either. The success rate is good, but they can fail, too, and then that can be a big mess to re-do the implant.
