You don't have to pull the air. Take out the dash and cut the ends of the heater core with a dremel tool and lift it out. The ones from the auto parts store have ends that have o rings on them that can be uncrimped and put back in and crimped back on. I did it on my 2000 and never had to remove the air. It works great.
