Mine were always factory riveted. Countersunk heads. 1/4" I believe. The rack and plate it is mounted to is steel, the door aluminum. Mine had nylon strips in between. I never cut the rack off the plate, just straightened it the best I could and did the same with the door. Used a grinder to clean all the corrosion off all the pieces, and like 7150 above stated, I used stainless steel countersunk bolts to fasten it all back together using the same holes.
