Subject: Re: Has anybody actually ever used a Watchdog spray station?

We have one where we work and want to test it on a bunch of different parameters - dust in the air, does it average right, is the sensitivity good enough for sprayer recording, at what angle does the sensor loss sensitivity, where best to mount this unit on the sprayer, etc. - but haven't had time yet. The principle is sound. There was a bunch of side projects done all over the internet last year using this approach => ultrasonics pulsing in four different directions and changes in wind speed cause a signal change which equates to wind direction and speed, then add GPS speed to get the difference, etc. - all in a semi-solid state housing and manner (no wind vanes, etc.). The intended use was to better document conditions while spraying in case you got blamed for ruining someones tomatoes, etc.. Can't speak on whether or not it will save you money - only depends whether or not you get in that position where you need the data for a law suit, etc. (which could help or hurt you in some cases). Also, some of the newer monitors (TOPCON, etc.) have directs input for this type of data which is kind of nice. Also, want to test this system against a standard wind vane (which probably won't be as sensitive). Currently, they are the only ones that sell this type of product (GPS combined with the wind sensor, etc. to get the correct reading).
