SW Iowa | Have you used Waypoint for soil testing in the past, and did results of this year's samples make sense based on previous soil test results + fertilizer - crop removal?
Before you spend big $ upping fertilizer rates, I'd suggest re-pulling at least a few samples and sending them to a different lab. I had samples tested at Waypoint for a few years... noticed some anomalous data on a few samples (like reported values completely out of range) the first couple years but mostly OK; last year results showed several unexpectedly low values and pretty drastic variability that hadn't been there in the past. I re-pulled some of the lowest-testing samples and sent them to Midwest and they came back considerably higher... can't say for sure that it was a lab problem (I pulled the initial samples in the fall and then it froze up, so I wasn't able to sample for re-tests until spring) but I have my suspicions. | |
