west-byGod-Pa. | I know...unusual way to start, BUT.... seeing the previous post about wool socks reminded me of something I had forgotten: many years ago, I worked strip-mining with a man from up in the mountains. In winter months I was assigned to stand outside ovenite watching a 6" trash pump. Conditions were awful. He told me to put a teaspoon of so of ground black pepper in my socks to keep my feet warm. I thought he was "pulling my leg", but later thought "what the heck, I can try it & it it fails to work, no one need know"...To my surprise it does work ! Like putting a heating element in one's socks ! And, one can add it to dress socks, if going out in dress clothes...still works | |
